Nature's Shrug

By Trevor B. Williams

The world exploded in dramatic fashion. The searing heat from the sweeping gamma ray burst that wrapped around the green and blue planet like a blanket on fire scorched the surface, then evaporated the oceans. The people screamed for answers, but the universe didn't care. The atmosphere was blown away like a hurricane snuffing out a candle. Despite the incorporeal nature of the gamma rays, the Earth shook as if struck by the moon. It wasn’t long before the planet itself broke apart from the incredible forces of galactic nature.

Don’t worry, the rest of the solar system was next.
